Regardless what we think we need to make us happy, we all have one thing in common; we are looking for happiness.

The misconception is that happiness is to be found in the pursuit of self-interest! The belief that we will find joy by filling our lives with "things, power, status, sex, self importance, and indulgence" is the root cause to all the ills of this world.

In so much as all beings are individuated manifestations of One spiritual body, which we call "God", the feeling that something is missing, and the need to fill that void is due to our belief that we are separate from everything we experience. The true path to fulfillment, and ultimate, spontaneous joy, comes through the joining of all that we think to be separate. When we "reach out" to our neighbors with compassion and concern, and tend to the needs of others, we immediately reap the benefit of "connectedness" and become one with those we endeavor to assist.
